DETAILS-DETAILS-Pack time for the varsity boys 1 to 5 was 2 minutes 13 seconds, that won’t get you anywhere fast.  If you throw the top two jv boys  in the mix its down to  1 minute and 41  seconds, better  but still not good.  The girls pack time was 1 minute and 21 seconds, not bad but the pack was toooooooooo far back.  Top mile time was Jones at 5:18 and Owen at 6:37.  Best 2nd mile Jones 5:34 and Aylssa at 7:23.  Best 3rd mile Jones 5:26 and Rakers at 7:00. On the boys side we had only Jones under 6 minutes for the 2nd mile. Of course none of the girls were under 7 minutes for the 2nd mile. There again the winning boys team pack time was 2 minutes and 18 seconds. (1-4 was 1 minute 18 seconds) Our rival Mt. Vernon’s pack time was 1 minute 14 seconds. On the girls side the winning teams pack time was 90 seconds, but their top 4 were in the top 15, that always helps. Still talking about the girls-teams that beat us that will be in our sectional are Scared Heart-Griffin, Glenwood high School, Mt. Vernon, Triad, and Springfield, we were right behind Springfield and Triad. On the boys side Mt. Vernon, Sacred Heart-Griffin, Triad, Quincy, Glenwood, Mater Dei and Springfield.  We have another meet on Tuesday and then Saturday again, after that we will have sometime to train again.

2nd Meet of the year-Lots of disappointment today. This meet has a lot of very good teams in it. Lots of class 3A schools, and some very good 2A schools. Most of the 2A schools will be in our sectional later this fall. There were some good things that happened. Jordan had another solid race. He finished 12th overall. Jaron looked stronger today as he gets in better shape. After that the varsity boys struggled. Cory had a very good race in the jv boys race as did Thomas, both are looking as if they are ready to move up to the varsity. The jv boys finished 6th as a team, so that was good.  The varsity boys ask me after their race, if I was disappointed with their finish, I hate to be negative,  but at the same time  I guess its my job to tell them what I’m thinking. I was disappointed for them because they have been putting in some good work, so I have to figure out what we need to change at practice to make them better in the races.

The girls did not have a good day, our best place was in the 40′s, I sensed disappointment in most of their faces, I am thinking today will be a turning point in their season.  The meet is pretty tough, a lot of the better teams from around a 100 mile radius were there. So we have an idea of where we are at as far as our state sectional. I’m going to try to be a better coach, from this point on.
