Turn out has improved and I’m still not seeing some of the main guys because of -swimming, marathon  work  outs and  other stuff. But the turn out has been good. And I like what I have seen so far. Good group of young throwers, not sure about discus throwers but you never know. Now if I could just get a throw coach, a jump coach, and a vault coach, things would be great.

Turn out was a little disappointing.  But  at  least  most  of them came to  me and let me know where  they  were going to be . Doctors’  appointments, play practice, work, ect ect. A good group of under classman.  So we shall see. Its a long season. Move forward.

Attended the Boys game last night. The Wildcats  got a little revenge from a early season lose at the hands of the Newton Eagles, putting the Eagles away by around 20 points. Big difference? Almost 20 less turn overs, I would say having starting point guard Jaron Lusch back from injury made a huge difference.  Left the house this morning before 6 am to drive to  Decatur for a track clinic. Set through almost 4 hours of seminar, still can’t teach the pole vault! The whole 4 hours was not about the pole vault, also included the discus, hurdles, and the distance races. The answer to having a good track team? Get fast guys that can jump far and big guys that can throw far! Watching the Illini play Michigan State, so far so good but a lot of time left! Need to score a basket!

Went to the girls game last night. I’m so impressed with Amanda Oulrey, she is so fluid on the court, not sure I have seen anyone as fluid with their shooting as she is. I sit up in the stands and like to second guess the coaches. Couldn’t figure Newton out, when you prepare for Salem, you know they are going to pressure you full court. So you need to slow things down, you need to be prepared to handle the full court pressure. Press breakers as we use to call it back in 70′s. Seem they were in to much of a hurry to get the ball up court. Need to spread things out and make good strong passes. The Lady Cats are tough and are always well coached.

Went to the Wildcat game last night. Got to spend sometime with Coach Tom. Lots of up and down the court, the guys played hard. As far as the shooting at half time-Cam you old lefty you, T-Hop, I can only say this “air ball, air ball!” Sorry, had to do that! Its always nice to see some of the young people. Oh the Cats did win, good to beat Effingham.

Best band ever- 3 Dog Night! You young guys need to listen to some better music, a little “Never Been to Spain” would be good for you!
