That group of guys had a very special season. Jordan, Corey, Jacob, Thomas, Jacob H. running in the top 5, then you add Tyler, Kolin, Meigs, Hargis and the rest of the crew for a special mix of young men.  Winning the conference championship! Coming oh so close to winning the regional and then that BIG sectional race! 3rd place to advance to the IHSA State Meet!  A year I will long remember. Special group of young men-They worked hard all year and came up big. Then to have all five of the top five make All South-really speaks highly for them.

More track highlights-the sectional-held at Belleville East High School. The last year we have to worry about the really big schools. The Kevin Sager high jump-passing  to 6′4 and then clearing on his final jump. Of coarse the very exciting 4×800 relay. Big battle for 2nd place the whole race, back and forth, between us and Belleville West, and then the big final leg by Kory Pruden as both us and Belleville West pass O’Fallon on the last straight.

There were other highlights-the pole vaulters Sam and Josh clearing personal best, some of the younger guys setting personal best. Lots to be proud of!

Thinking back to the Spring of 2008,(seems like over a year ago!)  First highlight that comes to mind is another Apollo Conference Championship. Three peat! Trying to remember the 1st place finishers?  Tony Bartley in the triple jump and the long jump. Matt George in the discus. Kory Pruden in the 800. Did someone win the 110 hurdles?  Bryce  Harris maybe?  Did Jacob win the 1600?  I know we won the 4×400 and the 4×800. Those teams consisted of Kubicki, Pruden, Wilkins, Brummel, Goff,  and Conklin. Let me know if I forgot anyone?

Another year, gone! Where does the time go? Just seems like yesterday I was walking the halls of SCHS. Never thought I would be coaching cross country and track, anywhere. Funny where life’s roads lead you. What stands out this past year? Stay tune, why I post a few!
