Jordan Jones had a great race at the Bradley Classic today, he ran 6th for Eastern.  Cardinals are winning at this moment. Hope they hold on. Seems the women’s team is hanging out together tonight. When they get together they cook stuff?  Doing pizza tonight, maybe we should open a KC CC Cafe! Just saying!

What does respect mean to  you?  I’m talking about the earning of respect.  Before you can be respected you have to respect your self.  In sports you have to respect that sport and respect the ones who came before you.  You have to respect the work, that you do.

When I was a young man growing up, I attended the same church as I do still today. First Christian Church in Salem. There was a program for young men called Jr Deacons. Part of our responsible was to do a little reading and a prayer before communion. We had to read a little verse, maybe expand on that a little and then pray. Well made me very nervous. One of the older gentleman at the church always had a calming affect for me. Omar Squibb told me “Just imagine everyone setting out there are in red long johns”  just that thought was enough to get me through that. I still think about that sometimes when I have to speak in front of crowds. Red long johns.

Today we are not going to meet to practice as a group. There is no school and I do not want to have these kids drive in to run a distance run. They can group together or run on their own. But it leaves me with an empty feeling. Some groups in the past I have been glad to have a day off from them! But not this group. Just fun to be around. Fun because they want to work. Fun because they want to get better.  Anyway need to save that gas money.  Go out have a good run and we will meet back up on Wednesday. The season is winding down and I don’t want to think about that either. This is the time of the year I begin to think…………………..are we where we should be? Should we had did things different as coaches? Are we ready for the post season?  The answer is always……..no…………..yes………..we will find out!

Ok I want to get a few items out there for this week. We will be at the school on Monday. PLEASE BE SELLING THOSE RAFFLE TICKETS AND IF YOU OR YOUR PARENTS HAVE ANY MORE IDEAS ON HOW WE CAN RAISE MORE MONEY LETS DO IT.  WE HAVE TO RAISE SO MUCH MONEY TOWARD THE FLOORING PROJECT AT THE PRACTICE FACILITY. THE RAFFLE TICKETS ARE A VERY EASY WAY-EASIER THAN SELLING BRICKS!  BUT JUST SELLING WHAT TICKETS THEY GAVE US WILL NOT MEET OUR REQUIREMENT. WE HAVE BEEN CREDITED $500 FROM THE GRADE SCHOOL MEET WE HOSTED. PLEASE HELP!

Next item…..October 15th is the SJHSAA State Cross  Country Meet. The meet is being held in Bryan Park in Salem. We have volunteered  to help at this meet again this year. This is Saturday October 15th in the morning. I will get you the time that you  will need to be there. After the meet we will go to my house and the sophomore men and myself will grill hot dogs and hamburgers out for a team picnic. At this time we will also do pumpkin painting. I will provide the pumpkins, you need to bring the paints ect. I’m hoping we can display these at the school and maybe sell them, with us using the funds to be used for the flooring project.
