As a great man once said “Let your actions do the talking and not your mouth” or anyway something along that lines. Let us get caught up with some track stuff. Our first outdoor meet was canceled due to mother nature but we fooled the all mighty controller of the rains and the winds and rescheduled for the next day. And better yet only one other team could come so the meet went a lot faster. So we finally got to see some of the young guys do some some stuff on the track and in the field events. And we were able to win the meet. Out scored the opponent by 10 points. They were missing a few guys as were we, so things evened out a little. Lets talk about some high lights. The shot putters-the young shot putters in particular. Matt Hahn had a throw of 38’11, good start for a freshman that is just starting to learn how to properly throw the 12 pound ball and another freshman Will Shipley threw over 38’8 those are both very good starts. Meador was off with his throws with 3 fouls and a final safe throw of over 39′ and then Prosise had a 45′ throw to win, so that was a good start for the throwers. The discus guys were ok but practice time over in the area has been limited due messy conditions. Conklin was over 124′ to win and Prosise was over 122′ for third. Q won 3 events, the high jump, the triple jump and long jump. Crossland ran a very good 100M and a good 400M. Harris won the hurdles in a very good early season time of 15.3. Hess won the pole vault. The 4×200 won. Probably forgetting someone-a few of the guys that qualified for the Illinois Classic Indoor meet traveled to Bloomington Saturday morning. Quentin placed in the high jump. Another high light was Jerod Brummett a junior who broke the Wildcat indoor 400M record in a time of 52.84, nice job Jerod. Our 4×400 relay team is starting to shape up so if we can get the guys in shape to run two good 400s in one meet could be exciting. Have a good one!
